Japan's Ministry of Education has published a pamphlet aimed at high school teachers with the objective of raising their awareness and knowledge about gambling addiction.
Published last wee, the pamphlet titled “Preventing Gambling and Other Addictions: Guidance Materials to Protect the Hearts and Bodies of Students” is twelve pages in length, and it includes fundamental data about gambling addiction and suggests strategies to alleviate its dangers, including communication with parents and expert resources. It will be distributed to high schools nationwide.
Last July, the Basic Act on Gambling Addiction Countermeasures was enacted in connection with the legalization of the IR industry. The publication of this pamphlet appears to be part of the stepped up efforts to address what had long been an essentially untreated problem in Japanese society.
