A temporary structure built to store materials by NagaCorp has been removed from Buddhist Institute land, according to media reports.
The National Assembly’s commission on religious affairs visited the site on Friday to ensure the shack had been removed.
Fears that NagaCorp is planning to expand its NagaWorld casino resort onto adjacent land owned by the institute has sparked a sea of protest, with hundreds of monks taking to the streets last year.
Seng Somony, an undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Cults and Religion, said removal of the structure proved that the Buddhist Institute was not under threat from development.
“Obviously we have seen here that there is no sale or rental [of the land],” he was cited as saying.
