Nagasaki no longer pursuing the IR project: report 

The Nagasaki Prefectural Government has expressed its intention to no longer pursue the integrated resort (IR) plan after being rejected by the Central Government in December last year.

According to a report from The Asahi Shimbun, the Nagasaki Prefectural Administration had until March 27th to file a request for utilizing the administrative complaint review mechanism.
However, during a session of the Prefectural Assembly Committee on March 13th, officials from the Prefectural Government stated that they would refrain from seeking an administrative complaint review and acknowledged their inability to proceed with the current plan.
The Ministry of Infrastructure declined the Nagasaki Prefectural Government's application for the IR, citing concerns regarding uncertainties surrounding the financial support for the project.
The Japanese Central Government approved the country’s first casino project in April last year, which will be located in Osaka.
According to the original plan, Nagasaki Prefecture expected to attract 8.4 million visitors yearly and ring up sales of about JPY 270 billion ($1.81 billion).
