NagaWorld fires staff over strike

NagaWorld has "terminated/suspended" 413 workers for participating in what the casino called an illegal strike. About 1,000 staff have been on strike for two weeks to push wage demands, including a raise in monthly pay for the lowest earners to $150 from $80. Hundreds of workers have resumed protests outside the Phnom Penh casino despite a move last week by security guards and police to break up the demonstrations and to detain 19 workers. Owner NagaCorp Ltd. reported having 4,544 staff at the end of 2012.
