NagaWorld worker protest broken up

NagaWorld security guards and police broke up a protest involving more than 500 workers who had been picketing in a park across the street from the Phnom Penh casino for six days over wage demands. Nineteen casino staff were detained for several hours. The workers had gone on strike to push claims for raises of  $80-$150 a month. Officials said the protest was forcibly broken up as it was causing "public disorder" and not in an authorized location, with the timing sensitive because of UNESCO meetings going on in the city.
