Nepal hotels to shut down

Due to the lack of business and fears of a coronavirus outbreak, hotels across Nepal have decided to shut down their operations until the situation improves, local media reports.

Shut down hotels include the Hyatt Regency, whilst other hotels, including Radisson and Marriot, are expected to follow suit.

“We have decided to shut down the hotel for at least six weeks beginning March 21. While the hotel lacks business, the decision also intends to prevent the possible spread of coronavirus among our staff and guests,” said Govinda Pariyar, PR manager at Hyatt Regency.

The shut down will also include the casino.

Nepal has seen a severe decline in the inflow of foreign tourists due to the coronavirus.
