Nepal national football team members accused of match-fixing

Four members of Nepal’s national football team, including the captain and vice-captain, and a former national player have been arrested on charge of match-fixing in national and international games, the Himalayan Times reports.

The detainees are captain Sagar Thapa, vice-captain Sandip Rai, former national defender Bikash Singh Chhetri, goalkeeper Ritesh Thapa and former national player and former coach of Three Star Club Anjan KC.

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) CEO Indraman Tuladhar and manager Ramesh Rayamajhi confirmed that the footballers were arrested by police.

Police said at least one of the suspects allegedly made investment in a casino in Sikkim of neighbouring India, the report said.
