Nevada regulator says triad influence down

A.G. Burnett, chairman of the Nevada State Gaming Control Board, testified to the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission in Washington that the Macau gambling industry is cleaner than it was before the arrival of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Resorts International although triads are still involved with VIP rooms. "With the entrance of our Nevada gaming licensed operators, much of those triad activities have actually decreased in one fashion or another," he said. "We have not seen any organized crime occur with our Nevada gaming licensees." He added that the triads do a lot of philanthropy in Macau.
