New Zealand passes gambling machine bill

Parliament backed the Gambling Harm Reduction Bill in a final conscience vote of 63 to 55. The ruling National Party backed the bill, sponsored by
Maori Party legislator Te Ururoa Flavell, after he agreed to compromises including a lower rise in the share of gambling machine profits that must be distributed to community groups.
