Non-gaming revenue could reach MOP112 billion by 2025

Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) estimates non-gaming revenue could reach MOP 112 billion by 2025, in a newly presented tourism plan, local media reports.

The ‘Macau Tourism Industry Development Plan’, presented yesterday by the MGTO, focuses on increasing tourist visitation, increasing the number of budget hotels, expanding the waterfront area and pushing non-gaming revenue to MOP14 billion in 2025, as well as attracting more diversified visitors.

The consultation paper will be available for public consultation from May 23 to June 22.

“The first stage of this plan has been completed and we now have a general draft, which will be available for public consultation for two months. We hope to hear the opinions and use the feedback for the implementation of the future plan,” said MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

The study also estimates total visitor arrivals could increase from 30.7 million visitors in 2015 up to 40 million arrivals by 2025.

The study also estimated that the number of rooms could increase as much as 35.8 percent to 51,500 rooms in 2025, while percentage of overnight stays would increase by 6.4 percent.

The government expects the final version of the master plan to be ready by mid-2017.
