Technology to help monitor the occupancy inside a property, as well as facial recognition and ways of tracking clients, are among the fastest growing areas of technology at present, a participant in a G2E Asia online panel said.
Dave Dalleske, vice president sales for Asia Pacific at Synectics System, said there has been a lot of focus on improving the functionality of video analytics to help improve tracking.
For example, being able to track a customer through a casino property using features other than facial recognition, such as through a combination of clothing.
The panel was focused on safety and security during the road to recovery in Asia.
Dalleske said another key area was technology to control levels of occupancy. Many casinos have strict guidelines on how many people are allowed into any given area, with Manila at present only permitting properties to open at 30 percent occupancy.
“We have seen a lot of developments in this area and will be keeping close track to see which are the best and which we can potentially partner with,” he said.
Chris Chan, head of cyber security research at UDomain also said there had been advances in research into how to reliably use facial recognition when people are wearing masks and half of their faces are covered.
He added, companies in China have been focusing on different forms of recognition technology such as the analysis of a person’s gait.
