Jaime Bautista, Secretary of the Philippines' Department of Transportation (DOTr), announced that the agency has received further interest from a Turkish company regarding their bid for the Manila Airport (NAIA) rehabilitation project.
Bautista mentioned that the number of potential bidders for the PHP170.6 billion ($3.04 billion) rehabilitation of the nation's primary airport has now reached eight.
The Department of Transportation (
DOTr) reported that the most recent entrant expressing interest in the bid is Limak Holding A.S., a diversified conglomerate engaged in construction, energy, cement, and tourism.
Manila International Airport Consortium (MIAC) put forward a multi-phased
master plan to upgrade Manila Airport in June. According to the design, it plans to double the declared capacity of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (
NAIA) to around 70 million passengers per year, from the current 31 million.
