Package tour visitors down slightly in February

The number of visitors arriving in Macau on package tours dropped 1.5 percent year-on-year in February, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

While package tour visitors from South Korea and India jumped a whopping 54.4 and 19.2 percent respectively, visitors on package tours from Mainland China and Taiwan dropped 5.4 and 9.3 percent year-on-year.

Total numbers of visitors on package tours for the first two months of 2017 totalled 1.1 million, down 4 percent year-on-year.

In other news, Macau hotels and guest houses saw a 8.1 percent year-on-year increase in guest numbers in February. The average hotel occupancy rate rose 5.7 percent to 84.9 percent in the month.
