Packer claims Chinese tourists are the key

Speaking at a memorial lunch in Brisbane, James Packer confirmed his interest in building a casino in Brisbane, claiming that it was necessary to help boost the country's tourism.  Packer decried the current state of Australia's tourism, saying that it needed more than sunshine and the Sydney opera house to attract visitors.
"The rise in the Chinese middle class will, I believe, absolutely change the world", said Packer, adding that the Chinese wanted urban amenities, not outback experiences.  The Brisbane government is to make a decision soon on the redevelopment of the William St site within a month and both Packer's Crown and Echo Entertainment Group are keen on establishing integrated entertainment projects there.
