Palau wants in on casinos, CNMI shares experience

Northern Marianas officials hosted a delegation from Palau, keen to learn more about the liberalization of the gaming industry in a bid to fund the government's retirement scheme.
While the CNMI licensing process was pushed as a last ditch move to avoid defaulting on payments, Palau still has 10 years worth of funds to cover pensions.
CNMI acting press secretary Ivan Blanco told local press that Palau is entertaining the concept of an Integrated Resort (IR) similar to the Marianas concept but also aiming to attract business from Mainland China and Taiwan, giving them added leverage.
Palau delegates Lucio Ngiraiwet, Noah Kemesong, Swenny Ongidobel, Sebastian Marino, Marino Ngemaes and Lee Otobed met with CNMI lawmakers and governor Eloy S. Inos on Friday.
