Newly elected Panaji legislator has received assurances from Goa’s newly appointed chief minister that the offshore casinos in the River Mandovi will be removed.
During a meeting between Panaji’s Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Atanasio Monserrate and Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, the chief minister said that talks have already begun relating to the removal of the six offshore casinos.
“We discussed the casino issue, and Sawant said that he would hold a meeting and sort out the issue,” Monserrate told TOI after the meeting. “He said it would take a bit of time, but that talks have started.”
The newly elected Panaji MLA in his manifesto had promised to remove casinos within 100 days of taking power. He said that when the assembly is in session, an amendment would be brought to remove the casinos.
