Paradise Co. Jan. sales drop 39% from prior month

Paradise Co., which runs four foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, reported a 39 percent drop in casino sales in January from the prior month.




The group reported revenue of KRW18.18 billion ($15.1 million), down from KRW29.79 billion in December. Table games sales plunged to KRW16.22 billion from KRW27.91 billion while slot revenue was little changed at KRW1.96 billion, up from KRW1.92 billion in December.




The January figures also showed a decline year-on-year of 33.5 percent. 




Paradise runs the Paradise Walker Hill casino in Seoul as well as the Jeju Grand and Paradise Busan. It also runs the Paradise City integrated resort in a joint venture with Japan’s Sega Sammy.




The company provides no commentary with its monthly sales figures. On Feb. 4th, South Korea extended its social distancing requirements for a further two weeks, due to the spread of omicron. The measures include a 9 p.m. curfew for restaurants and a six-person limit on private gatherings.
