Paradise Nov. sales rise 31.6 percent


Paradise Co., which operates foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, reported a 31.6 percent gain in November sales, driven by table games.

Total sales were KRW67.26 billion ($54.5 million) compared with KRW51.14 billion the same month a year earlier. The figure was however down 16.5 percent from the prior month.

Table games saw revenue of KRW63.33 billion, up 35 percent, while machine revenue was down 7 percent to KRW3.94 billion.

For the 11 months to end Nov., revenue gained 23 percent to KRW714.9 billion, with table revenue up 24.3 percent and machine revenue up 5.9 percent. The table drop was up 18.5 percent over the 11 month period, but was down 1.7 percent from November last year.

The company operates four Paradise casinos across South Korea and has a joint venture with Japan’s Sega Sammy to develop the Paradise City integrated resort in Incheon. 

Rival operator Grand Korea Leisure, which operates three domestic foreigner-only casinos, reported an 8 percent year-on-year boost in net sales for November to almost KRW45 billion (about US$38 million).
