Parrikar says no gambling for Horseshoe

Manohar Parrikar, chief minister of Goa, said he had denied Delta Corp. permission to start casino operations on the Casino Horseshoe, which was set to become the largest offshore casino in the state with 100 tables and 80 gaming machines. Parrikar had come under criticism from anti-gambling activists and opposition legislators for not blocking Delta from anchoring the new boat in the River Mandovi while expressing opposition to the gambling industry. The Horseshoe was to replace a smaller floating casino Delta previously operated in the river.
