PhilWeb Corp. named Anna Bettina Ongpin, daughter of controlling shareholder Roberto Ongpin, to its board, days after Craig Ehrlich, a Hong Kong telecommunications executive, resigned for personal reasons.
The company this month reported that profits rose 10.1 percent in the second quarter to 528.4 million pesos ($12.1 million) as revenues rose 7.7 percent to 745.2 million pesos. The company added a net two e-Games cafes and 70 terminals to its Philippine network during the quarter, but pushed back the opening of its first overseas outlet, in Dili, East Timor, to this month from June. It also opened its second Guam sweepstakes center this month and plans to begin production of its first in-house developed gaming terminals by the end of August.
