PIL filed in Goa against new casino

The high court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday announced it had received a petition filed by NGO GenNext, objecting to an issuance of a casino licence to a 5-star hotel in Goa, local media reports.

Durgadas Kamat, chairman of GenNext said a complaint was first filed with the home department, but no action was taken. "Hence, we have moved the court to stop the activity. A new structure has been put up, and in its support, the town and country planning department has issued a technical order. This order is being challenged.”

Kamat has alleged the government is on the verge of giving the license as it has become BJP’s policy to support the industry at all costs.
