Playtech does not have RNG online casino monopoly: PAGCOR

The Philippines gaming regulator has clarified that it has not granted any company a monopoly on providing RNG casino games to its POGO licensees, Calvin Ayre reports.

Last week, it was reported that the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation had issued a memorandum certifying Monford Inc, a company owned by Playtech as the first and only Gaming Software Provider for its POGO licenses.

However, in a statement sent to Calvin Ayre on Friday, PAGCOR said it “did not grant monopoly to Playtech” for RNG online casino games.

The regulator referenced a September 4 memo which gave POGO licensees 15 days to “apply for the necessary accreditation for their gaming software providers.”

Pagcor said its announcement regarding Montford’s accreditation was made as it was the only company that complied with the directive at the time.

Pagcor clarified that it is still accepting applications for accreditation as gaming software providers.

PAGCOR added that it “does not aim to limit POGO licensees on their preference regarding the use of RNG-based games for their respective offshore gaming operations” and the regulator “aims to uphold not only the legality of the conduct of offshore gaming operations in the Philippines but also the integrity of the industry.”
