Police have raided seven online lottery centres in central Mumbai, arresting 11 for evading the Goods and Services Tax by issuing hand written tickets instead of printed ones, the Press Trust of India reports.
This is the first such action against the lottery centre owners, who have been avoiding state GST for a long time by issuing hand written tickets.
Police recovered 11 computers, hard disks, mobile phones and cash worth more than Rs1 lakh. The centres were giving tickets to various online lotteries, including Goa’s authorised “Lucky Four.”
