Police rescue Taiwanese man kidnapped in casino

Philippine police have rescued a Taiwanese man from a kidnap-for-ransom gang in Paranaque City, local media reports.

The suspects, who also come from Taiwan, beat up the victim after detaining him on Jan. 7 in a casino. The three Taiwanese suspects allegedly abducted the victim over a supposed P100,000 ($1,900) gambling debt and demanded ransom for his release, police said.

Police are investigating whether the suspects are part of a bigger casino lending operation targeting Taiwanese nationals gambling in local casinos.
