Preliminary opening of first casino in Primorye scheduled for August

The preliminary opening date of the first casino in Primorye, Russia, is scheduled for 1 August, with the main opening date scheduled six weeks after, according to Vladivostok News.

"Two openings are planned - the preliminary one and the main one. The preliminary one is scheduled for 1 August. By this time, equipment will be mounted, facilities will be given a necessary sheen, planned entourage will be created, staff will be recruited and instructed. After the preliminary launch the staff trainings will start," said Craig Ballantyne, CEO of “The first gaming company of the East,” one of the companies investing in the region.

Primorye officials in January said the region had received pledges of investment for about $2.2 billion.

The regional government has signed investment agreements worth a total of $1.4 billion.

According to Ballantyne, the launch has been constantly postponed due to "hidden" clauses in the law concerning changes to the project, construction, migration policy, delivery of materials and certification.

Summit Ascent Holdings, backed by Melco International CEO Lawrence Ho, said last week it has nearly completed construction on its integrated resort in Primorye.
