Primorye ditches gambling tax hike

The Primorye Gaming Zone in Russia has decided against the doubling of gambling taxes in the region, with fears that it would scare away foreign investors.

According to reports, Primorye deputy governor Andrei Tarasenko tabled a draft law to the local assembly last week justifying the need to not double gambling taxes in the region.

Tarasenko said it would help to attract foreign investors to new projects in the gambling zone.

However, the happenings in Primorye was not emulated by other regions, with many regions doubling their gambling taxes.
