Problem gambling foundation takes legal action against Ministry of Health

The Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand is taking the Ministry of Health (MoH) to court over a decision not to renew its contract for over seventy percent of its services. The Foundation says that it cannot understand how the MoH arrived at the decision to cut its funding and will be challenging it in court, potentially on the grounds of good performance. The MoH has previously threatened to cut funding to the Foundation if it did not stop a campaign called “pokie-free and proud of it”, promoting pokie-free pubs.
