Punjab could get horse racing instead of casinos

The Punjab government plans to allow horse racing in the state, the Times of India reported. The state cabinet has approved the draft bill for the enactment of Punjab Horse Race (Regulation and Management) Act 2013, which will legalize setting up of race courses as well as betting on horse racing in the state. Commentators said the move looked likely to supplant plans for a casino project in the state.
