Queensland to shake up horse race betting

Racing Queensland has sent out a prospectus inviting expressions of interest from potential operators as it seeks to shake up wagering in the state, media reports. The market had previously been operated by Tatts Group under an exclusive agreement ending in June this year. Tatts' race wagering licence in Queensland runs until 2098, but the "bricks and mortar" retailing exclusivity expires on June 30, 2014. The incumbent is still in talks with Racing Queensland about potentially also extending that exclusivity period.
