The refurbished border checkpoint Gongbei, linking mainland China and Macau, reopens on Friday.

The checkpoint has been upgraded to increase processing capacity by about 10 percent, allowing it to receive between 330,000 and 350,000 visitors daily.
According to local media reports, the refurbishment has increased the area of the border by 50 percent, resulting in a total of 90 lines for digital document checks and 32 lines for manual document checks.
Gongbei is renowned as the largest land-based checkpoint in China, with over 100 million border crossings recorded last year.
Macau welcomed over 28 million visitor arrivals last year, and this year, the Asian gaming hub may see over 33 million visitors, with the majority entering via land-based crossings.
