Samsung Lions pitcher axed after illegal gambling allegations

Veteran relief pitcher Lim Chang-yong, 39, has been released from South Korean baseball club, Samsung Lions, following illegal gambling allegations.

Lim was summoned by Seoul prosecutors last week over illegal overseas gambling suspicions.

During a 13-hour interrogation, Lim admitted to gambling in Macau but denied he bet as much money as had been claimed. According to local media reports, one Macau gambling house said he had bet hundreds of millions of won.
