Sands executives visit residents of repaired Coloane homes

Sands China team members and executives visited residents of Navegantes Street and Lai Chi Vun in Coloane Wednesday, where they extended their best wishes to residents whose homes had recently been repaired through the company’s assistance.

Following August’s Typhoon Hato, a group of Sands China team members took the initiative to organize a project to repair 22 storm-damaged homes in Coloane, including three that had been destroyed and had to be substantially repaired.

With the support and coordination of the Housing Bureau, the team members enlisted the help of three local construction companies, including Min Da Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd., Tong Lei Engineering & Construction Company Limited, and Circle Engineering Company Limited, to help renovate the damaged homes.

The residents expressed their gratitude to Sands China for its assistance during Wednesday’s visit, and gave team members and executives a tour of the newly repaired homes.

Sands China Ltd. president Dr. Wilfred Wong, who was in attendance along with other company executives and team members, said: “Being an active member of the Macao community is a value at the heart of this company. We are very proud of our team members for taking the initiative to assist the residents here, and we were happy to lend our support to their initiative. Our thanks go to them, to the Housing Bureau and the local construction companies and suppliers for their support, and to the Coloane Welfare Association of Son I and the Association of Residents of Lai Chi Vun for their coordination work.”

The company’s community work is part of Sands Cares, the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
