Sen. Grace Poe allegedly accepted donations from Macau junket

Independent presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe has reportedly accepted campaign contributions totalling P150 million (US$3.2 million) from Sun City Group, a Macau-based junket operator, according to The Daily Tribune report.

The report claims that it obtained documents that Poe’s camp accepted P150 million in “political donations” from the junket via three cash vouchers issued last year. One of the vouchers has Grace Poe’s signature.

This was not the first time that Poe has been under fire for accepting benefits. Poe previously used helicopters in  campaign sorties which she admitted to have been lent by San Miguel Corp. and Helitrend Corp.

Sun City Group has been trying to establish a strong foothold in the local gaming industry and has plans to expand its VIP room presence in Solaire and City of Dreams.

However, according to Sun Star Manila, the senator denied receiving donations from Sun City. "The document they are releasing (is not true). You know, I am just holding myself back but I think they should be held liable for what they are doing," the senator said. "It is easy to get another document for signature. It is not really (true). And it is really distressing," she continued.
