Senator accuses POGOs of having Chinese espionage links

Senator Richard Gordon told the local media on Sunday that Chinese intelligence agents are “are riding on POGOs” and were most likely responsible for a murder last week of a POGO worker.

Last week, Yin Jian Tao, a Chinese online gaming worker was murdered by three men at a Makati City restaurant. Two of the alleged assailants, Yang Chao Wen and Liang Yuan Wu, were caught by the authorities, and both were carrying illegal guns and identification as members of the PLA.

“While I don’t know if the arrested suspects were really People’s Liberation Army (PLA) members, in the realm of possibilities that’s very possible,” the senator declared. “You will be a stupid country if you drop your guard.”

Gordon also told the media that China is beefing up its intelligence network in the Philippines so that it will “be ready whatever happens.”

Gordon was the chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority during the administration of President Fidel Ramos, and also Secretary of Tourism under the administration of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He currently serves as the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross.
