Shift in Chinese holiday hits Nevada casinos

Las Vegas Strip casinos reported a drop of 18.6 percent in gross gaming revenues in January from a year earlier, in part to Chinese New Year falling in February this year instead of January as in 2012. Notably, revenues from baccarat, a favorite of Chinese bettors, were halved while slot revenues were nearly flat. Statewide revenues fell 12.4 percent.
