Singapore extends lockdown to June 1


Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has extended a partial lockdown across the city-state until June 1 to curb the recent rise in coronavirus cases. 

The lockdown which was originally set to end on May 4 will include closures of most workplaces and schools. 

The city-state saw 1,111 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing total infections of 9,125.

According to the World Health Organization regional chief, Singapore currently has the highest number of reported cases in Southeast Asia.
