Singapore fines IRs over regulatory breaches

Singaporean authorities have imposed fines on Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa totaling more than S$200,000 (US$154,000) tor regulatory breaches.
The Marina Bay Sands was fined $197,500 with the Resorts World Sentosa facing a $20,000 bill from the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore.
The regulator says the penalties were for social safeguards relating to restrictions on local access to the casinos and other regulatory breaches detected from Jan 1 through June 30 last year.
The two IRs were facing fines for failing to prevent certain groups of Singapore citizens and permanent residents from entering the casinos, including those without valid entry levies, those banned by an exclusion order, as well as those under 21 years of age.
