Singapore IRs suspending operations until May 4

Both Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa have announced they will be suspending operations until May 4 as a Covid-19 countermeasure. These closures are being made in line with a government order that aside from “essential businesses” other operations should be suspended as of April 7.

The IRs’ hotels, shops, food and beverage outlets, as well as the casinos and other attractions will be closed during this period.

In a Facebook post, MBS explained, “For those who have booked a hotel stay with us, reservations for room nights for 7 April to 4 May will be cancelled. We will make our best efforts to find accommodation elsewhere for guests who have already checked in and who were due to stay with us beyond the closure period. These are unprecedented times for all of us, but we are all in this together.”

RWS explained that all attractions, including Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark and Dolphin Island, and the casino would be closed during the period. However, selected F&B outlets would remain open for takeaways, including Malaysian Food Street, Pizzeria, Osia Steak and Seafood Grill, and Feng Shui Inn.

“We will continue to look after our RWS family, including the marine life under our care,” they wrote, “RWS stands united with Singapore in the fight against Covid-19. We look forward to the time when we welcome guests again. In the meantime, stay strong!”
