SJM praises media over lunch, clarifies staff discipline policy


At a media lunch hosted by SJM, the casino company took the opportunity to clarify recent reports on the tightening of the discipline system of gaming staff and reaffirm its commitment to employee training, namely dealers' career advancement.

So said that SJM follows consistent guidelines which have not been recently changed or tightened, adding that the number of warning letters issued to employees in 2015 was 25 percent less than the same period last year.  

"Dr. So stressed that SJM attaches great importance to staff training, and is committed to providing vertical and horizontal career movement for its employees.  In doing so, SJM continuously invests in internal and external training programmes," the company said in a statement.

So said the company is still on track to open the Lisboa Palace in two years and a 3D museum next month.

“Looking ahead, we are on track for the opening of Lisboa Palace in 2017. Also in less than a month’s time, we will open our 3D museum at the Ponte 16 Resort – Pier 16 3D World – the first of its kind in Macau. Moreover, at the upcoming Macau Grand Prix, SJM will be the title sponsor of the Macau GT Cup, this year also the world’s first official FIA GT World Cup.”

 SJM chairman Ambrose So and the board of directors also thanked 100 members of the press for their free and open coverage of Macau’s “challenging environment.”
