SkyCity appoints interim Australian COO after resignation of David Christian

SkyCity Entertainment Group has appointed Avril Baynes as its Australia interim Chief Operating Officer (COO), following the resignation of long-time staffer David Christian.

SkyCity’s Interim Chief Executive Officer, Callum Mallet, said, “David has held a number of senior roles during his career with SkyCity since joining in 2005 and has led the SkyCity Adelaide business through a very challenging and demanding period, demonstrating strong leadership and resilience.”
According to the filing to ASX, the New Zealand-based gambling and entertainment company announced that Baynes is set to officially start the role in mid-April as Christian departs.
Baynes is currently the General Manager of Hospitality at SkyCity Adelaide, a role she has held since November 2023. Prior to joining SkyCity Adelaide, she was the General Manager of the Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, Australia, from May 2019 to November 2023.
