Slot revenue in NZ up 3 percent in 16Q1


Slot machine revenue in New Zealand’s pubs and clubs in the first quarter of 2016 are up from a year ago, according to figures released from the Department of Internal Affairs.

Pub and club gaming machine takings were NZ$6.3 million (US$4.4 million), up 3 per cent from the same period in 2015.

The number of license holders fell 6 percent in the year, from 312 to 292, gambling venues declined 4 percent from 1277 to 1224, and gaming machines dropped from 2 percent to 16,274.

It was noted that spending data was captured only from non-casino gaming machines.

87 percent of the machines are in pubs with the balance in sports and chartered clubs and RSAs.
