South Australia passes narrower gambling bill

The South Australian parliament passed gambling law amendments to authorize a A$300 million ($277.2 million) expansion of SkyCity Entertainment Group Ltd.'s Adelaide Casino and halve the maximum bet limit on gambling machines in the state to A$5. Other proposed changes, regarding problem gambling measures and creating two classes of gambling machine halls, were rejected.

The law extends the Adelaide Casino's exclusive license by 20 years, lowers tax rates on VIP gaming, allows it to add 505 slots and 110 tables, install 300 automated table game terminals and introduce cashless machines.
