South Australia suggests sport bet warnings

South Australia's Independent Gambling Authority issued a draft code of practice that would require betting companies to include prominent anti-gambling messages during their television and radio ads and on their billboards and on any sponsored uniforms. The authority plans to implement new rules in December after this week implementing a broad ban on live odds advertising.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority adopted a new code of practice for TV broadcasters that forbids promotion of live odds during matches but allows generic gambling ads during scheduled breaks in play, in contrast to South Australia’s rules. The national authority said it will review the rules’ effectiveness after the Australian summer sports season.
