South Shore says no formal accord reached on gaming at The 13

South Shore Holdings said it hasn’t yet reached a formal accord to operate gaming facilities at the ultra-luxurious The 13 Hotel, though a memorandum of understanding it reached with the affiliate of an operator remains in place.

In a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, South Shore said “the entering into of a formal agreement continues to remain subject to, amongst other things, the operator making an application and obtaining approval from the Macau Government to conduct gaming operations in THE 13 Hotel.”

The company has previously announced a potential services agreement with Melco Resorts & Entertainment.

South Shore, which opened The 13, last year, also said it had extended the expiry date for a potential HK$1.5 billion investment into the unit that runs the hotel from April 4 to May 4 to accommodate ongoing negotiations.

The 13 opened in August last year, without gaming. It boasts 200 duplex suites, limited edition products from the major luxury brands and the only branch of a legendary Paris institution of haute cuisine.

With a gross floor area of approximately 945,079 square feet, the villas begin at about 520 square feet ranging up to about 9,870 square feet and a royal villa of about 19,838 square feet.

Guests will arrive in one of the hotel’s fleet of signature-red Rolls-Royce extended wheelbase Phantoms with the option for private check in.
