Space for two more Maine casinos, study says

An independent study carried out by Atlantic City-based WhiteSand Gaming, found the state of Maine has the potential to support another casino, or maybe two, depending on the size and location, according to media reports. The study found the state could easily accommodate a casino in the south, while there may be room for a smaller property in the north, closer to the Canadian border. That casino would need to be limited to 100 slots and no more than 10 table games.Members of the Legislature’s Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee are expected to review the study Sept. 10th, the report said. The study was commissioned after a task force of lawmakers and others formed to study the addition of more casinos in Maine broke down after failing to reach agreement.
