SPiCE India 2024 event relocated to Colombo amid legal concerns

According to a report, The Society Against Gambling Trust (SAG), a local organization advocating responsible gaming, has expressed reservations about the upcoming Strategic Platform for iGaming Conference & Exhibition India (SPiCE) event scheduled for February 27th-29th, 2024, in Goa.
The event organizer, Eventus International, is drawing attention for its significant sponsors, including prohibited illegal betting and gambling platforms in Goa.
The report mentioned that SAG sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting his intervention to prohibit the involvement of illegal platforms in the SPiCE event. The letter emphasized the socio-economic challenges faced by the country's youth due to engaging in illegal gambling activities.
In light of the increasing controversy and potential legal consequences the organizers have chosen to relocate the SPiCE India event to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The rebranded event, now called the SPiCE India & Sri Lanka Merger, is scheduled to take place from February 26th to 28th, 2024.
