China’s two lotteries put in an impressive performance in July, marking their first month of year-on-year growth of 2020.
In total lottery sales were up 10.4 percent to CNY36.15 billion ($5.28 billion), driven mainly by a 17.1 percent surge in Sports Lottery Sales to CNY20.71 billion.
The Welfare Lottery posted a 2.6 percent gain in the month to CNY15.44 billion.
For the year to date, total lottery sales are down 34.8 percent at CNY160.05 billion due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Welfare lottery sales are down 33.8 percent while Sports Lottery sales are down 35.6 percent.
