Sports lottery sales drives up September revenue

Lottery sales in Mainland China increased by 15.1 percent year-on-year to approximately RMB36.9 billion (US$5.6 billion) in September, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

The increase was driven by a 24.4 percent increase in sales of sports lottery tickets, which amounted to RMB19.3 billion in the month.

Welfare lottery sales also saw growth in the month, rising 6.5 percent to RMB17.6 billion.

Altogether, the month’s lottery sales results brought the year-to-date lottery sales to RMB310.8 billion, an increase of 7.3 percent year-on-year.
