Sri Lanka opposition protests casino bill

Members of Sri Lanka’s opposition party took to the streets of Colombo Thursday to push the government to stop James Packer’s Crown Resorts and others from opening casinos in planned hotel projects, according to media reports. The protest came as parliament began debate on whether to approve Crown's $400 million mixed-development project and two similar schemes, together worth more than $1.3 billion. Following opposition, the government amended the gazette on the resorts to remove the word gaming.
