Studio City considers VIP gambling rooms

Melco Crown is considering adding VIP gambling facilities to its Studio City integrated resort, local media reports.

Melco Crown’s chief operating officer, Ted Chan reportedly made the comments on the side lines of Melco Crown’s Local SME Open Day while discussing Studio City’s performance.

Chan reportedly also suggested he has not been satisfied with the current condition of Studio City. “We have tried adding various elements here hoping that when the supporting infrastructure is better, the environment will also get better,” said Chan, who also revealed that the occupancy of Studio City's two hotels had reached 95 percent.

Studio City opened its doors to the public on October 27, 2015 with its Hollywood-themed casino focused on non-gaming amusements. Whilst it did not house any junket operations upon opening, analysts at the time said there was a chance for VIP operations in the future.
